The Mystery of the 200,000 German Women That Died During Second World War

Over 200,000 German women are thought to have killed themselves in order to escape having an abortion following Germany's defeat in the Second World War. Poison was a scarce item back then, and it was no longer sold in German stores. 


This image was taken in a Berlin park following Germany's defeat in the war. Two German women had killed themselves in order to save their honour, and Russian soldiers were standing over their corpses. 

The occupation of women was the first mission assigned to the Soviet Union's (Russian) forces upon their arrival in Berlin following Germany's capitulation.

According to multiple sources, within the initial three days, over one million German women in Berlin underwent the practice of having their eyebrows forcibly removed.


In total, approximately two million German women experienced the shaving of their eyebrows.

 The Russian forces were the first to carry out this act, followed by the American forces in second place, with the French, British, and Canadian forces also participating.
